L&D Mods proudly present: The Pallet Pine Woodie!

Late last year I happened to cross paths with an old forum buddy: DaveJ!

DaveJ is accomplished in the art of woodwork, where I am more inclined to metalwork and electronics. We have often wondered what would happen if we combined our skills to make a mod. Unfortunately the vastness of Australia lay between us, and the chances of sharing a shed were zero.

This time we decided that wasn't going to stop us, and L&D mods was born. We used a shared Google Drive and email to discuss ideas, and decided to make our first attempt using "throw away" pallet timber. Auspost was also a critical part of this adventure.

laurie9300: "Big thanks to DaveJ for all the effort he put into this. I know it was a big learning curve and you really came through. I thoroughly enjoyed the process, and look forward to doing it all again...."

DaveJ: "I wish to express my thanks to laurie9300 for the help and guidance provided through this build. I look forward to further shared shed adventures together."

We would also like to extend a big "Thank You!" to emu, without him this may never have happened.

And here is what we achieved:

For a blow by blow account of this adventure, it's all documented here. Warning! This is a rather "pic heavy" 6Mb file.......

    Truly amazing....
I've just finished reading and viewing the documentation. Fantastic work from both parties and the result is just absolutely stunning.

I've got a question @laurie9300. Did you and DaveJ have to rock, paper, scissors via skype to see who gets L&D 001 and who gets L&D 002?
    Lol

Well done on the accomplishment :)

Is it just me, or does the screen look like it reads "LSD mods"? Oh, just me.. :whistling: :bolt:

It does & my guess is it's a DNA board either a 250/ 75 chip, that's been "hacked" using Escribe software ;)

Well done Dave & Laurie, so when do you start taking orders & how much will it cost? :D

    Magnificent work from you both.

I find it incredible that it all came together so well considering you had no face to face interaction and the distance involved between you both.

I'm sure there was some head scratching etc but you obviously overcame all obstacles.

An achievement to be proud of in my book.

how does it feel in hand, being so boxy? i feel like it would benefit from some light rounding off

I agree it is a bit boxy, and wide, but it is surprisingly comfortable.

This mod was always intended to be a trial run, with nothing fancy, just to see if we could.........and we can!

I find it most comfortable held this way..........

Beautiful work guys. If that's what you can do with a bit of throw away wood I can only imagine what you can achieve with some really good timber. Well done! :clap2:
