    +++Welcome to the Vaper's Dictionary+++

I intend this to be the "go-to" reference for all Vaping terminology!

To achieve this I am to going to need your help.

I intend to keep this thread maintained and as up-to-date as I can (time permitting).
I do not intend to include any brand names.
If you have any suggestions on how I can improve it, please post.
If you find any mistakes, please post.
If you have a better definition for an entry, please post.
If you think an entry would benefit from including an image, please post.
If you have a term that needs to be included, please post.
If you can include the definition, even better!

Credits go to aussie63, 5ean, DaveJ and DogMan who all put in a lot of work on the original

A popular wicking material. Rayon was the first manufactured fiber. The term rayon was officially adopted by the textile industry. Unlike most man-made fibers, rayon is not synthetic. It is made from wood pulp, a naturally-occurring, cellulose-based raw material.

      R.B.A. (RBA):

      See entry under Rebuildable Atomiser.

See entry under Replaceable Coil System.

      R.D.A. (RDA):
See entry under Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser.

      Ready To Vape:
An eliquid that requires no further preparation or additions to be added. Can be used straight from the bottle.

      Rebuildable Atomiser (R.B.A., RBA):
An atomiser that is designed to let the Vaper wrap and install their own homemade coils and wicks. This style of atomiser gives the vaper complete control over wire gauge, coil resistance, coil design, wicking material and wicking style.

      Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser (R.D.A., RDA):
A rebuildable atomiser designed to have e-liquid dripped directly onto the wick/coil. It does not have a tank to feed the wick and can only hold a few drops of e-liquid. Many feel it produced the best flavour and vapour production of all atomiser designs.

      Rebuildable Tank Atomiser (R.T.A., RTA):
A rebuildable atomiserthat has a tank that holds the e-liquidand feeds the coilvia the wick.

Rebuildable Dripping Tank Atomiser (RDTA, RTDA):
Combines the features of a RTA with the features of a RDA & usually has some kind of manual pump system on the tank.

      Replaceable Coil System (R.C.S.):
A feature offered by some manufacturers that allows the user to replace the coils in an atomiser, allowing for the reuse of the atomiser body.

Measured ohms it is the repulsion of a current within a circuit. It explains the relationship between voltage (amount of electrical pressure) and the current (flow of electricity).

      Resistance Wire:
A type of high resistance electrical wire. The wire resists the flow of electricity, and converts the electrical energy into heat. Application for resistance wire includes resistors, heating elements, electric heaters, electric ovens, toasters, and many more.

      Reverse Battery Protection:
A feature of some Advanced Personal Vapourisers that shuts down the device if the batteries should be inserted up-side-down. This protects the circuit board and batteries from damage.

      Ribbon Wire:
      See entry under Ribbon Kanthal.

      Ribbon Kanthal (Ribbon Wire, Ribbon):

A type of resistance wire used for building coils. Ribbon wire has a flat cross section rather than round, which provides a greater contact area with the wick.

      R.T.A. (RTA):

See entry under Rebuildable Tank Atomiser.

      R.T.D.A. (RTDA):
See entry under Rebuildable Tank Dripping Atomiser.

(2). A feature of some Advanced Personal Vapourisers that allows for the direct measurement and limiting of the temperature of the heating coil during operation. By preventing the coil from becoming too hot regardless of fluid, wicking or airflow, a variety of undesirable situations can be prevented. For example, appropriate temperature settings will prevent the wicking material from charring, which compromises taste and introduces unintended chemicals into the vapor. Appropriate temperature settings will also reduce the breakdown of flavoring and base liquid components, which could impact taste or safety.

The volt (V) is the standard unit of measure for electric potential, electric potential difference (voltage), and electromotive force. One volt is defined as the difference in electric potential between two points of a conducting wire when an electric current of one amperedissipates one wattof power between those points.
