Yeah 32 gauge 5 mm inner diameter 4 mm leg length 11 wraps works out at 0.2 ohms for a single coil with round wire, 4 mm inner needs 13 wraps.

I don't see much advantage. Especially given cost involved.

You mentioned sensitivity to different wire types, particularly nickel and gold is nickel free plus you could reuse the same piece many times.
Be good to see how it tastes coming off a pure gold wire. :)

certainly more cost effective ways around various metal intolerances, still leaving room for either temp control or mech/vw

how do you figure about re-use? gold is pretty soft and delicate at the best of times

Plenty of XXXX Gold in Qld.
    Not that I'd drink it.

Gold is very durable and there is nothing else like it, it's the only element that can be beaten so thin you can see through it.

The symbol for gold is Au so we Aussies deserve to have it in our kit :)

Wish I had more of it full stop.

I could see the Mrs getting a bit peeved if I melted down any of her jewelry to give vaping on a gold coil a crack.
She already thinks I spend way too much on vaping and that really would add fuel to the fire.

Be interesting to see how much 200 mm's would cost from the local jeweler.

I'd rather keep all my body parts including what's left of my eardrums.

Could get expensive if you're into quad coils, I'll have to weigh the same length in SS but I think it would turn out to be surprisingly cheap for a strand of gold wire.

Just weighed 183mm length of SS which is 0.19 grams, even if gold is twice as heavy say 0.4 g that's less than 20 bucks AUD.

Next time you're in Perth go to the mint and see if they've got any scraps lying around they don't want.

You don't know if you don't ask but somehow I'll be honest and say I doubt it.

I once robbed the Perth Mint. ;)

I jumped on the end of a paid for, tour group, around the mint.
    Saved me some money.

It would be closer to 3 times as heavy, maybe 4 times.

Gold is almost 3 times as heavy as Iron & the same with Chromium, the other main metal that makes up SS is Aluminium & gold is about 6-7 times heavier than Alum.

Cost me 20 bucks to find out that gold wire tastes the same as SS :p

I'll let you know how it goes for longevity.

Switched exclusively to SS now. 22 24 26g.
Use for TC and / or watts mode either below .5ohms (dripping, genesis style) or above .5ohms for the provari on velocity.
Got some SS clapton from FT under $5.
22 or 24 g plain wire in dripper, to me, beats clapton in dna75 in terms of ramping.
I prefer the thicker guages for wicking also, they tend to hold their shape better.
